1969. 8vo sized cloth bound hardcover with dust jacket; 150 clean pages. Copyright 1969, 5th printing of first edition. The book is about the 1968 Columbia University protests. From back: "I, for one, strongly support trees (and in the larger sense, forests), flowers, mountains and hills, also valleys, the ocean, wiliness (when used for good), good, little children, people, tremendous record setting snowstorms, hurricanes, swimming underwater, nice policemen, unicorns, extra-inning ball games up to innings, pneumatic jackhammers (when they're not too close), the dunes in North Truro on Cape Cod, liberalized abortion laws, and Raggedy Ann dolls, among other things..." The 1970 cult film, The Strawberry Statement, is based on this book. It won the Jury Award in the Cannes Film Festival. The author had a cameo role in the film. Name on fep and note inside front cover, booksellers stick on bottom of inside cover, wear to jacket with a small chip missing from back of jacket, inch tear and creasing to top front of jacket. . Synopsis

The Strawberry Statement is a non-fiction book by James Simon Kunen, written when he was 19, which chronicled his experiences at Columbia University from 1966–1968, particularly the April 1968 protests and takeover of the office of the dean of Columbia by student protesters.
