About This Item

New York: Alfred A. Knopf. Fine in Near Fine dust jacket. 1967. First Edition; Third Printing. 1/4 Cloth. First edition/later printing in Fine, seemingly unread condition, in Near Fine dust-jacket, very lightly toned and small chip to bottom corner. From the collection of Betty Anderson, legendary art director of publisher Knopf in the late 20th century as evidenced by her (small and unobtrusive) inventory number on front paste down; Robert Nathan, a pseudonym for the author, creates a believable and dark medieval world in Stonecliff. The novel follows the adventures of a young man, Simon, as he is falsely accused of a crime he didn't commit and must flee his home. Simon is accompanied by a group of friends as they make their way through the dangerous and hostile land. Along the way, they must fight off bandits, monsters, and worse while trying to keep ahead of the king's men. Nathan expertly weaves in historical references and events to create a believable and unique medieval world. Stonecliff is an exciting and suspenseful read that will leave you on the edge of your seat.; 8vo ; FSA .
