About This Item

London: William Heinemann Ltd, (1932). First edition. Second issue as usually seen with "Quin Savory" vs. "Q. C. Savory" - a character name change made at the insistence of J. B. Priestley who "sued Greene for defamation, believing this vain, pompous writer was based on himself -- and rather proving the point by doing so" (David Marsh, The Guardian, 10/19/10). Re-titled ORIENT EXPRESS for the U.S. edition. 8vo black cloth boards; gilt-stamped spine featuring mosque design; 307 pages. Scattered foxing to page edges otherwise near fine; in good to very good dust jacket with old internal tape repair and a few fresh archival ones, some rubbed creasing, few small chips and tears including one touching a few title letters at spine, slight discoloration to spine, and light damp stain along rear spine fold. Increasingly scarce in dust jacket and this one is somewhat better than it sounds.
