About This Item

London: Weidenfeld and Nicolson, 1980. Hardcover. 8vo. Orange paper over boards with gilt spine lettering, pictorial dust jacket. 374pp. Very good/very good. Head of spine bumped, else tight and nice. Attractive first British edition of this timely, bestselling political thriller about Russian disinformation: "Are the western media being manipulated by Soviet agents?" screams the front jacket copy. Inscribed and signed large and bold by de Borchgrave in blue ballpoint on the title page: "For Bob, a great American / With gratitude, / and admiration / for his / unique / contribution / on the ramparts of / freedom, / Arnaud de Borchgrave." de Borchgrave (1926-2015) was a distinguished Belgian-American journalist who focused on international politics. Robert Malott (1926-2018) was a noted Chicago business leader, CEO of FMC Corporation, Republican politico and philanthropist.
