About This Item
First illustrated edition in 2 volumes. Illustrated by John Austen with 15 plates, 5 of which are colored. Top edge gilt. Fine in near fine (and rare) dustjackets, with a very good black slipcase despite a closed tear along one edge. Quite rare, especially as a set and in this excellent condition.
Nepenthe, the Italian island is the fictional setting of South Wind, or Capri in light disguise. Norman was perhaps more well known for his scatological limericks rather than his Mediterranean travel works. Large Octavo. 24 x 16 cm. 288, 300 pages.
