A Song of the English was first published in the English Illustrated Magazine in May 1893. The theme that underlies this collection of poetry is that the English are chosen under the lord, so long as they obey the law. This volume is beautifully illustrated with thirty colour tipped in plates by W. Heath Robinson.Collated, complete. In the publisher's original decorative cloth binding. Externally, very smart with some bumping to the extremities and head and tail of the spine and fading and rubbing to the rear joint. Previous owner inscription to the front free endpaper dated 1909. Front hinge is starting and is generally firm. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages. Good
