Naples, FL: Midway Publishers, 1980 Midway Publishers, Naples, FL. 1980. Hardcover. Edition/Printing not stated. Inscribed by the author on the FFFP. Book is tight, square, and unmarked. Book Condition: Very Good: light shelfwear to head, tail, and tips; light foxing to texblock top. DJ: Good; missing small piece at top of rear panel; foxing to flap folds; light sun fading to spine; closed tear to tail. Blue boards and spine with bright gilt lettering on spine. 320 pp 8vo. The author was an Ensign Pilot of a Douglas TBD-1 Devastator with Torpedo Squadron 8 on the USS Hornet at the Battle of Midway in June 1942. Shot down and wounded, he was the only survivor of his squadron. He survived in shark infested waters for thirty hours before being rescued. He saw additional action at Guadalcanal and as a combat instructor at NAS Opalocka, FL. After WWII he flew for 30 years with TWA. A clean and very presentable copy in Brodart mylar.
