New York: The Macmillan Co, 1900. First American Edition. Octavo. 326pp., (3) pp. ads. printed on laid paper. A collection of James' short stories which he enjoyed writing. Titles includer Europe, The Great Condition, The Tree of Knowledge and others. Bound in red cloth, spine lettering gilt, light wear to head, top edge gilt. From the library of Claude Fayette Bragdon (1866-1946. He) was an architect, artist, writer, philosopher, and stage designer. He designed Rochester's New York Central Railroad terminal. he wrote Architecture and Democracy. Besides his paintings, he is generally known today for his poster art. A very nice bright copy.
