[1950s SKIDMORE OWINGS MERRILL AMERIKA-HAUS PHOTOS ARCHITECTURAL] SKIDMORE OWINGS & MERRILL SET OF 18 ORIGINAL BLACK-AND-WHITE PHOTOGRAPHS Amerika-Haus, Frankfurt, Germany, designed in cooperation with architect Otto Apel, completed 1957/post-War architecture design, 8" x 11-1/2", silver gelatin, 10 b+w photographs (including 4 duplicates) of building models with 4 linen-backed, 8 b+w photographs (including 1 duplicate) of drawings, total 18 original photographs including duplicates of 5 of different aspects of the prospective Frankfurt, Germany, Amerika Haus (closed in 2006), some with period automobiles and some with landscaping; NOTES: The America House (Amerika Haus, plural: Amerika Häuser) is an institution developed following the end of the Second World War to provide an opportunity for German and Austrian citizens to learn more about American culture and politics, and engage in discussion and debate on the transatlantic relationship. Run by the American government until 2006, Amerika Hauser were located in Frankfurt, Berlin, Heidelberg, Munich, Vienna, and other cities.
