London: Baldwyn and Co., 1816. 2nd Edition . Very Good Minus. 8.75 x 10.25 inches (22.5 x 26.5 cm). Recent half leather binding with marbled boards. Spine has five raised bands with gilt ruled decoration, red morocco title label. Page edges untrimmed. Half title page has the word Norway excised, with paper repair, 3cm cut to frontis. Heavy foxing to pp212-215, scattered foxing and some offsetting elsewhere. Paper repairs to upper margin of appendix leaves K1 to M2. Staining to margins of final 4 leaves of appendix. Leaves T2 and T3 are loose but still attached by lower cord. Complete with frontis and eight plates (all bound before chapter one). 21 engraved vignettes within the text. All plates have foxing plus staining to inner margin. Originally published in 1814. This second edition has additions to the appendix on the political situation in Denmark-Norway. Wolff was an Anglo-Danish shipbroker and merchant who served as Danish Consul in London between 1803 and 1807. He had previously published his account of a tour of southern Europe in 1801.
