About This Item
New York: George P. Putnam. Very good copy in the original decorated cloth. 1849. Revised ed.. hardcover. 8vo, 465 pp., Bound in red cloth with gilt and blind stamping; all edges gilt. Stated as "Authpr's Revised Edition" on title page., This copy bears the signature of Washington Irving on a small piece of paper which is affixed to the front pastedown. The signature is followed by the printed word "President" and was therefore likely taken from a document from the Astor Library, forerunner to the New York Public Library, where Irving was appointed as first chairman in John Jacob Astor's will on his death in 1848. .

I have found another volume of this same book in similiar condition. I have only read the preface at this time, however it is very interesting because it is written in the old enlish style of the day. very unique to read the language and phrases of the time
