Sheet measures 15 3/4" x 12 This map of what is now Pakistan, by John Cary features the Sinde (Indus) river and its branches. The bottom portion of the map displays the river delta, emptying out into the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Cutch. Bordering regions are indicated as Persia and Tibet. The map is extremely detailed reflecting Cary's attention to accuracy and dedication to keeping his maps up-to-date. It is in good condition with wide margins. John Cary (1754-1835) was a British cartographer and engraver. His highly detailed and accurate maps mark a turning point from the earlier emphasis on decoration toward a greater emphasis on information. This map is a fine example of Cary's work.
