Peking, China: Chinese Painting Association of Peking, 1931. First Limited Edition. Stab binding. Cloth strips by "spine". Boards covered with brocade fabric. . Near Fine. Vivid, bright renderings of the lively Chinese business signs to signal the broad array of enterprises. Signs often have distinctive shapes, and most are ones suspended like mobiles with cord. Oblong 4to. 26.5 by 34 cm. 18 leaves, the 15 with hand-colored renderings of the signs paginated 1 to 15. With 101 painted signs. With the original brocade fabric boards bound together with thick string. Some edge wear to the fabric on the boards, and minor loss along the edges of this fabric. Light offsetting of the imagery, but overall, an uncommonly clean copy.
