About This Item

Berkhamstead: William Cooper & Nephews, 1920. First Edition. Soft cover. Fine. 12mo illustrated stapled wraps with elegant red accents. (28pp). Illustrated with remarkable sepia portraits of shepherds from countries all around the world, one each representing New Zealand, Australia, S. Africa, Japan, Chile, Germany, Bolivia, U.S., Russia, Holland, Spain, Bulgaria, France, China, Peru, Brazil, India, Iceland, Argentine, Hungary, Uruguay, Algeria, Turkey, Italy, & a one-page composite of England, Ireland, & Scotland. At bottom of pages is a promo for Cooper's (sheep) Dip. 5pps of ads & info about the company. Cooper Crest on preliminary page. Ink-stamped at top of publisher box is the company name of the successor company, "Cooper, McDougall & Robertson Ltd." That change was apparently in 1925. The booklet actually appears to be earlier than 1920, possibly about 1900. Cooper & his nephews were in business at least in the 1880s. A rare pamphlet, with a copy showing present in only one library worldwide. Remarkably fine condition.
