Eventually they sent him on a course, and it was then that he saved the life of a Rear-Admiral when their plane crashed into the sea. If he'd left him to drown life might subsequently have been easier; as it was, when he was fully recovered, young Dexter found himself posted to Gibraltar under the Rear-Admiral's command. Somebody should have warned him about Gibraltar."
