About This Item
London: George Morrish. 2nd 'revised and corrected' ed. . Blind-stamped grey cloth. Good-VG. 11 Cms x 18.5 Cms. 143 pp.; 1864-dated sig. to front endpaper+early pencilled price to top, some eraseable pencilled underlining through to p.8, paper stick changes after p.48, being a shade whiter thereafter, rear end-gutter slightly opening exposing netting but secure. No printed date. Covers clean but slight rubbing to extremeties and all rather faded, esp. spine, but gilt title remains legible. Scarce work by the leading Plythmouth Brethren preacher of the mid-19th century, a premillenialist who introduced the notion of the 'rapture'. He split from the Plymouth Brethren, founding own 'Exclusive Brethren' church, his followers becoming known as Darbyites. The current work dates from after this split.
