About This Item
Very Good Book. Minimal Wear, No inscriptions. Hardback and Wrapper.
Although Cullompton is Saxon in origin there is evidence that people have been living in Cullompton, at least since Roman times. Its geology makes it ideal for farming and the good quality water from the River Culm has encouraged milling, firstly corn mills, then textile mills and later paper mills. Its location has meant that it has become a place that a good many people pass by, albeit to them it is just a junction on the M5 motorway but in years gone by it was a stopping off point for travellers on their way to Plymouth and Cornwall. The population of Cullompton is approximately 8,600 but it is no longer the self-sufficient country town it once was. Although its population has more than doubled since the 1950s many of the people that live in the town no longer work and shop there. Cullompton still retains its sense of community and identity through community events such as the annual Town Festival and Christmas Lights parade. This book looks at the changes that have taken place and celebrates the past, present and future of an evolving community.

About greaves-leaves
I am an independent retired individual who has specific interests in History, particularly local History and relevant scarce books. Many of the books for sale are from the collection I have built over the years. I do not operate as a business and spend a few hours a week on my hobby. However being retired I am usually available to service orders promptly and personally.
