Though Alexander the Great set out from Greece and conquered much of present-day Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Egypt and the Levant, there are many questions about this man, who died at age 32. In this work, the author seeks to answer some of those questions. With numerous color and b&w photos of present-day areas conquered by Alexander and his forces; also with images of sculptures, paintings, manuscripts, drawings and maps (including map of areas conquered to endpapers). --- In full black cloth-covered boards with titling gilt-stamped on spine. Jacket features bust of Alexander to cover. --- An excellent copy: clean, tightly-bound and bright though with a little soiling to cloth. A prior owner has wrapped the jacket in clear stick-on transparent plastic covering, with some chafing to spine ends, else in good shape.; Tall Octavo - 9 to 10 in. tall; 448, (8) pages .
