Signed by the author to the title page. Mathilda Gillespie is found dead in her bathtub, he head locked inside a so-called "scold's bridle" - a cage built with tongue clamps used as a torture device throughout the Middle Ages. Gillespie's only friend, Dr Sarah Blakeney, becomes the prime suspect after police discover she's been left a great deal of money in the Will. In 1998, The Scold's Bridle was adapted for television by the BBC. Written by Minette Walter, an English crime writer. In the original black cloth binding. Externally, excellent with light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Unclipped dust wrapper also excellent with minor shelf wear to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound.
