About This Item

Sarratt: Village books, 1999. First edition. Cloth. Very Good Indeed/Very Good. 9" by 6". None. An uncommon, first edition of this work produced by John Le Carre to raise funds for charities supporting Sarratt, Hertfordshire. This work was produced by John Le Carre and many others to raise funds for charities supporting the village of Sarratt, Hertfordshire. Le Carre set his early novels in Sarratt, as the location for his training centre for British spies. This anthology contains a story by a former KGB Intelligence officer Mihail Lubimov. With a label to the front wrap 'Gift Book of the Year'.Loosely inserted is a bookmark for this work advertising its publication, and the pamphlet listing the people of Sarratt on Midsummer's Day 21 June 1999. The flyleaf to this work remains unclipped and unstamped for coupons that can be redeemed when presenting this book to local establishments in Sarratt. For example, those dining in the local pubs can present this book for a free drink. There are small circles on the flyleaves for the establishments to stamp the flyleaves. To this copy the flyleaves remain blank. The rear wrap has a quiz/competition regarding Le Carre quotes. A very smart copy of this wonderful work produced by Le Carre. In the publisher's original cloth binding. With unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, excellent with minor shelfwear. Dustwrapper is sound with light shelfwear to the wrap edges and joints. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
