A first edition copy of this work, published 2002.Walking along a beach one day, Isobel and Nicholas discover a ship wreck. As they put it together again, they find it is a peculiar sailing boat which can actually fly. They sail through the sky encountering various scenes of despair and devastation. Written with the help of 1,800 children from many parts of the world including London, Singapore, Dublin, Luxemborg and Oslo. This collaboration created a book about the problems of our modern world such as prejudice, pollution, child slavery and war. The names of each contributor are listed on the end papers.Sir Quentin Blake is a beloved children's illustrator and author, well-known for his illustrations for Roald Dahl. In publisher's original pictorial laminated boards. Externally, very smart. Faint marking due to handling across boards, joints and extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
