About This Item
OK, my first over 200-year-old book! Sometime in the not recent past, it was rebound, long enough ago that a hinge split has developed in the front endpaper (see photo #5). Orginally written by a teacher to help students understand the Latin classics by explaining the social lives of the Romans. The new cover is deep maroon fabric with veins of black. On the spine is a label made on a typewriter. The pages are clean and tight, and mostly intact. Page 31-32 has been expertly repaired with librarian's tape (see photo #6). A challenge to read, as the lower case "s" looks more like an "f" to a 21st century eye. Looks like it is reqady for another 100 years. As should be expected, this is a rather rare book.
