A new edition of this work in a quarter morocco binding with cloth boards. All edges gilt. An adventure novel concerning brigands and corruption in 18th century Athens, by French writer and journalist Edmond François Valentin About (1828-1885). First published in 1856, this was his best-known novel. The second edition to be illustrated throughout by French artist Gustave Doré (1832-1883). In a quarter morocco binding. Externally smart, with a little shelf wear to the boards and extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
