London: Duckworth & Co. , 1910. Leather. Very Good Indeed. 7.5" by 5.5" . Not Stated . A lovely copy of this illustrated edition of Margaret Barber's successful work on meditations, in a J. &. E. Bumpus full pebbled calf binding. Margaret Barber was an English Christian author, writing under pseudonym of Michael Fairless. The Roadmender was originally published in 1902, it consists of a book of meditations. Barber's most popular work, it became a popular classic, and was reprinted various times within the first ten years. The present copy is an early printing of the illustrated edition. Featuring a frontispiece and other full page plates. In a lovely full pebbled calf binding signed J. & E. Bumpus. Complete with half title. In a full pebbled calf binding signed J. & E. Bumpus, with five raised bands and new endpapers, gilt to the edges. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear only, light rubbing to the spine and extremities, a touch of sunning to the spine. Emmeline Mary Bevan bookplate to the front pastedown, inscribed "E.M.B. from M.C.S." to the front free endpaper, dated 1914. Internally, firmly bound. Faint minor spotting to the odd leaf, otherwise the pages are bright and clean throughout. Illustrated with a frontispiece and other full page plates. Very Good Indeed
