About This Item
Chicago: [Committee for the Relief of Belgian Prisoners in Germany], 1918. 4to, broadside, with cartoon illustration of prisoners of war being horribly mistreated by German guards captioned "This is the Way Belgian Prisoners are Treated in Germany." Text seeks to raise money for feeding and supplying these prisoners by describing how horribly mistreated they are: "allied soldiers have been tortured physically, mentally, and morally until it would seem as if God himself must release His lightnings and strike to the earth, the fiends incarnate who dared to so torment human beings who have no power to help themselves." Toned and creased, with a few small tears along margins.
