Beige cloth over boards, title stamped in gilt onto spine, color illustrated paste-down onto upper board, large 8vo (9-5/16 inches tall), pp. 131, ads, all edges trimmed and stained blue, colour illustrated end papers, Volume about fine with spine ends softened and lightest tap to one corner. Slipcase showing some wear with small cracks, bumps to corners and a small abrasion to paste-down. With the colour illustrated paste-down onto the top of the publishers tan slipcase, as issued and the water-color illustrations by Wesley Dennis. This copy is the Rogers-Kellogg-Stillson, Inc. variant printing of the first illustrated edition. Filmed in 1949 using the same title and the screenplay written by Steinbeck. Ref. Synopsis
"The Red Pony" is an episodic novella written by American writer John Steinbeck in 1933. The first three chapters were published in magazines from 1933–1936, and the full book was published in 1937 by Viking Penguin. The stories in the book are tales of a boy named Jody Tiflin. The book has four different stories about Jody and his life on his father's California ranch.
