The author goes back to World War II with Pete Banning, a WWII decorated soldier and survivor of the Japanese POW Camps who for some unknown reason, packs his wife off to an insane asylum, kills his pastor and friend, Rev. Dexter Bell and offers no defense. The plot twists and turns around racism, the Jim Crow South, and Banning's pride and beliefs that send him to the electric chair. A clean near pristine copy.
