About This Item

London: Charles Radcliffe, et al.. 1966. First Edition; First Printing. Periodical. Yellow wraps illustrated by Charles Radcliffe's drawing of a man in a balloon with "Burn, Baby, Burn" on its basket. The Rebel Worker was regularly published by the Solidarity Bookshop group in Chicago who identified strongly with the Industrial Wokers of the World (IWW). At the core of this group were the Rosemonts, who would soon organize the Chicago Surrealist Group. This number, however was co-published in England at a time the Rosemonts were visiting Charles Radcliffe and Diana Shelley. Radcliffe was just publishing his own mimeographed magazine, Heatwave. This issue contains essays by the contributors+ classic texts by Patchen, A Shepp, Pierre Mabille, Peret, Marx and a Letter from Chicago (from Bernard Marszalek Solidarity Bookshop). There was also a US issue with identical contents but a different cover. Near fine but for corner crease on lower left corner of front wrap. An important document in the history of Chicago surrealism. ; Small 4to 9" - 11" tall; 1 pp .
