Reality: Or Law and Order Vs. Anarchy and Socialism (signed) by George A. Sanders - 1898

Burrows Brothers Company, 1898. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Poor/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, inscribed and signed by the author on the front pastedown to a friend. Original binding of first state blue-green cloth boards, later states were produced in red cloth. Exterior shows scuffing and spotting along with edge and corner bumps/chips/wear. The front board has a crease in the cloth near the bottom center. The front end page has picture of author pasted in with inscription on opposite page: " To a friend and lover of good literature. A Happy New Year and many of them. Most sincerely yours, George A. Sanders Springfield Ills Jan 01, 1899". There is also a signature, presumably of his friend, written in pencil in the gutter of the dedication page. Pages are darkened and brittle due to quality of paper used, pages 131-134 have a large horizontal tear in the center. The text portion of the interior binding is good but both the front and rear hinges at boards show some ugly cracks and it appears the rear end page is missing. Extremely rare to find a signed copy, even in this condition.
