Boards have light shelf-wear with corner bumping. Slight crushing to spine ends. Unclipped jacket has heavy edgewear with areas of loss, heavy tears, chips, and creasing. Light tanning to spine and edges. Wear marks and foxing overall.

Historical novel of the daredevil adventures of early Texas explorer Louis Juchereau St. Denis, by author/screenwiter Paul Wellman, who was a staff writer at Warner Bros. from 1936-1944, and MGM from 1944-1946. Numerous Wellman Westerns were adapted to the screen, including his 1952 novel "The Comancheros," which was made into the popular movie of the same name starring John Wayne. Very Good Plus, exceptionally clean, crisp and bright, in a Very Good dust jacket that has a single small chip at the lower left shoulder of the spine panel. Signed on the half-title page by the author.

Good Condition/ No Dust Jacket. Red boards with Large gilt titles. Black titling on spine. Hinges cracked. N.C. Wyeth Illustration at center front shows Hopalong "Hoppy" Cassidy sitting on a barn wall. Plot summary: "In Bar-20, the first Hopalong Cassidy novel by Clarence E. This copy also includes an affectionate inscription to a friend of the author, dated February 18, 1994, which is surely close to the publication date.
