RARE: Set in New Hampshire near the true Ragged Mountain of Grafton, a young girl lives with her family and a few friendly bears in a village surrounded by nature, 1000 feet up the mountain. Foxes, a squirrel, a moose, a raccoon, rainbow trout, crickets, and others move through the setting. The animals are looking for an ambassador to represent them in preserving their wondrous habitat, and so they are watching their friend Kendra. The illustrations are from original etchings printed by hand in color.
