About This Item

London: Paul Elek, 1978. A near Fine unmarked copy with gold title on red cloth boards with dustjacket which has fading and is not price clipped. No one among her subjects enjoyed going to the theatre more than Queen Victoria, it was one of her greatest pleasures and she was one of its greatest patrons. From the age of 12 to 42 she was not only an enthusiastic devotee of ballet, opera, circus and drama, sometimes going as often as three times a week, sometimes more than once in an evening, she was also an ardent supporter of the Windsor theatricals. The book, by the noted theatre historian, shows her likes and dislikes and the performances she saw at many theatres and is well illustrated with 19 plates. 21. First Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
