Nashvill, 1833. vi,147pp. Contemporary half calf and paper-covered boards, gilt morocco label. Minor edge wear and soiling, corners worn. Contemporary ink inscriptions and 20th-century bookplate on front pastedown, faint tideline to bottom margin. Good plus. The rare session laws for the first session of the Tennessee General Assembly in 1833. These acts and resolutions were passed in September 1833, and address the typical legal and governmental concerns of a developing frontier American state. Topics include infrastructure, military & militia service, land & estate matters, voting laws, establishing courts and banks, jurisdiction, and much more. Particularly notable is the act "to prevent the owners of steam boats and stages from carrying off slaves, without the knowledge or consent of the owners."
