New York Toronto: Rinehart & Company, Inc, 1945. Early Reprint. Hardcover with Dust Jacket. Fine/Fine. 8vo. Pp. 243, [2]. Bound in maroon cloth with gold lettering stamped on spine. Top edge dyed red. In the printed dust jacket, price of $3.00 intact on front flap. A fresh copy, with a 1946 invoice laid-in from Robert Brunner Psychiatric Books. Reik was one of Freud's first students in Vienna; by the time he landed in the US, and when this book was published, he was an outcast from the community of medical psychoanalysts: Reik had not earned an M.D. degree. Reik proceeded to establish one of the first psychoanalytic schools for psychologists. The third section of the book is titled "Love and Lust." A bright copy with dust jacket now enclosed in a removable, clear archival sleeve.
