This work is a revised PhD thesis of the author where, as a result of extensive field work in Borneo, he seeks to determine elements of the grammar and vocabulary of the Proto-Malayic language, from which it is thought that all Malay languages and dialects stem. By using established linguistic techniques he also seeks to determine the geographical origin of the original Proto-Malayic speakers. The work is out of print and is made available to customers of the Penang Bookshelf with the permission of the author. 266 pages including two appendices, a list of references and an index. The book's chapters are 1 - Introduction, 2 - Phonological Description of the Malayic Isolects, 3 - The Reconstruction of Proto-Malayic Phonemes, 4 - Proto Malayic Word Structure, 5 - Proto Malayic Lexicon, 6 - Proto Malayic Affixes, 7 - The Changes from Proto Malayo Polynesian to Proto Malayic, 8 - Conclusions. Weight: 0.7kg. Post free within Malaysia This is an ex-library book with a small label on the spine and another one on a front end paper as well as a stamp on the same page and on the top text block. The spine and the top of the front cover are slightly sunned. The binding is tight and the text clear with no tanning throughout.
