Toronto: Ontario Press, Limited, 1919. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good. Frontispiece portrait. Toronto: Ontario Press, Limited, 1919. First edition. A member of the 4th Canadian Mounted Rifles Battalion, Laird was wounded and captured at Mount Sorrel in June 1916. He was a prisoner of war in Germany until being included in a POW exchange that sent him to Switzerland, where a specialist was able to repair his wounded hip and paralyzed leg. Signed by Laird on the frontispiece. Octavo. Original brown cloth binding, with black stamping. Partially erased period previous owner's signature to the front flyleaf. Some general shelfwear to the boards; otherwise very good.
