About This Item

Text continuous despite pagination. In very good condition, with some minor fraying to inner gutter at the base of the index pages at rear. Later C19th? Half calf, marbled boards, straight spine with gilt lines. Edward Polhill (1622-1694) was an English Puritan writer and theologian from Suffolk. He studied at Cambridge University and became a minister in the Church of England, but was ejected for non- conformity in 1662. Polhill was known for his piety and devotion to God, as well as his advocacy for religious toleration and civil liberties. He wrote several influential works, including 'The Divine Will Considered in its Eternal Decrees'; and 'A View of Some Divine Truths,' which were widely read and discussed by his contemporaries. Polhill's writings had a significant impact on the development of English Protestant theology and religious thought.
