Prayers to Broken Stones by Dan Simmons, story collection (author of Hyperion, Fall of Hyperion, Carrion Comfort, etc) Hardcover First UK Edition - First Printing
Headline UK 1992. (also published by Dark Harvest, but this UK edition has slightly better jacket art!) SIGNED by Simmons on the title page.
Fine in Fine Dust Jacket The page edges with a tiny bit of natural aging and typical toning (common with UK editions published circa 1980-2000) The book is now 30 years old, and still looks nearly new.
NOTE: All modern books with dust jackets come with dust jacket covers.
Fine
in Fine Dust Jacket in Fine- Slipcase with just a bit of a superficial
abrasion to the back of the slipcase, really no big deal.
Edition note:
Prayers to Broken Stones was Simmons first short story collection
published shortly after Carrion Comfort, his second novel, and Hyperion
his third novel, and after Song of Kali, his first published book. Early
on, Simmons had bad luck getting published. Apparently, one of his
short stories was accepted and then the magazine went defunct before it
was published. Song of Kali was accepted by another publisher which went
defunct before it was published. Bluejay published Song of Kali finally
but it went defunct shortly thereafter. When Simmons was shopping
around for a publisher for Carrion Comfort, most publishers felt it was
too hefty a book for the horror genre. Apparently Dean Koontz suggested
small press Dark Harvest. Shortly thereafter, Simmons published the
Hyperion/Fall of Hyperion duology which is in my opinion one of the best
science fiction novels up there with Dune by Herbert.
NOTE: All modern books with dust jackets come with dust jacket covers.

Synopsis
Prayers to Broken Stones is a short story anthology by the American author Dan Simmons. It includes 13 of his earlier works, along with an introduction by Harlan Ellison in which the latter relates how he "discovered" Dan Simmons at the Colorado Mountain College's "Writers' Conference in the Rockies" in 1981. The title is a borrowed line from T. S. Eliot's "The Hollow Men".
