An attractive binding, however lacks 1 sheet pp 33 & 34 and 1 plate 36 has been cropped in half, 224pp 20 plates, some folding. Part one is on spherics, Part two on nautical astronomy. Printed dedication to Neville Maskelyne. This volume set the scene for a strong astronomical basis for nautical navigation as the prefered method for the determination of longitude rather than the use of chronometers pursued by John Harrison, of which there are dismissive comments (see pp167/8).
