About This Item
New York: Lee and Shepard, Publishers & Lee, Shepard, and Dillingham, 1872. This is a Very Good (Plus) copy of a "New Edition Carefully Revised" of Ireland's National Poet. First Edition Thus. Not a common edition. Green pebbled cloth binding, decoratively stamped; gilt ruling and titling on the spine, which has five raised bands highlighted with gilt. Clean text; 475 pages, with a 24-page catalog from Nimmo of Edinburgh. [An interesting bit of publishing history here - why include another publisher's catalog and not one's own? Possibly this American edition was published from English sheets.]The volume begins with a 48-page biography of the poet. Minor rubbing to margins; pages are lightly toned. A rather handsome book.. First Thus. Hard Cover. Very Good (Plus)/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
