London: Edward Moxon, 1837. First Edition. Full leather. Very good. Featuring a landscape fore-edge painting, the first edition of The Poetical Works of Thomas Campbell, published in 1837.. Octavo, ix, [3], 306pp. Full maroon morocco, gilt designs stamped on covers. Title in gilt on spine with gilt-embellished compartments. All edges gilt with gilt turn-ins. No additional printings listed. Solid text block, rubbed corners and edges. Previous ownership inscriptions to front endpapers. Fore-edge painting depicts a mountain landscape with a small sound in the foreground. There are cattle along the shore and a few people in the water. There is a small man on horseback on the right side of the painting. A vibrant, detailed example.
