About This Item
First edition, second printing, in the publisher's original green cloth with spine title, quarto, pp. xiii, 210 plus colophon. Previous owner's bookplate on front pastedown. The preliminary and terminal pages are foxed and toned darkly with age. A very old bookmark was left between pp. 182 and 183 and has caused heavy offsetting in that gutter. Other pages clean and unmarked. Please NOTE that previous owner, a deceased physician, applied a thin layer of lacquer to the boards (perhaps in a noble attempt to prevent scuffing or shelf rubbing?). This copy wanting the dust jacket.
