A scarce edition of one of the most significant works of theological fiction by John Bunyan, with decorative cloth binding and coloured plates. Illustrated with a frontispiece, monochrome and coloured plates and vignettes throughout. Undated, dated from a similar copy held at British Library. A contemporary Sunday School Prize to the front paste down dated 1896.John Bunyan's significant work of theological fiction. It is a Christian allegory presented as a dream sequence, centering on the protagonist's journey from his hometown, "City of Destruction" to the "Celestial City". With a memoir of John Bunyan to the front of the work. In the publisher's original decorative cloth binding. Externally, excellent with rubbing and bumping to the extremities, heaviest to the head and tail of spine and corners. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean. Scattered spotting to the first and last few leaves and fore edge. Very Good Indeed
