Joseph Mallord William Turner RA (23 April 1775 – 19 December 1851), known in his time as William Turner, was an English Romantic painter, printmaker and watercolourist. He is known for his expressive colourisations, imaginative landscapes and turbulent, often violent marine paintings. He left behind more than 550 oil paintings, 2,000 watercolours, and 30,000 works on paper. He was championed by the leading English art critic John Ruskin from 1840, and is today regarded as having elevated landscape painting to an eminence rivalling history painting. This massive book includes a map of Lautrec's Paris, a catalogue of his graphic works and a chronology of his life and work. Many magnificent full page color reproductions as well as paste-on reproductions and b&w photos. no pages or illustrations, photos, etc. are missing.Book is in excellent condition. Only faults we could find in book are some shelf wear/white spotting at bottom edge of the back cover, a small (about 1/8") stain at top of spine extending about one inch from the spine at the top of the pages; however, the stain is only visible on the top edges of the pages when the book is closed. It does not show on the pages themselves. The Dj is whole but shows its age with some light stains and wear marks on front cover and shelf wear at edges including some small tears and chipping at bottom of spine are.
