Enclosed in a cloth clamshell portfolio box with printed title on the upper cover; the portfolio box shows minor soiling. The contents are fine.
Harold Feinstein was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1931. His professional recognition began when Edward Steichen purchased his work for the permanent collection of MoMA, and his inclusion in the exhibition Seventy Photographers Look at New York (MoMA, 1957). His work was also included in several other influential exhibitions, among them, Photographer's Choice (Limelight Gallery, 1958) and Photography at Mid-Century (George Eastman House, 1959). His work is represented in many large collections, including, the George Eastman House, the Museum of the City of New York, and the Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris. New York and New Yorkers have been his predominant theme throughout his career. This portfolio is limited to 30 numbered copies, with all photographs SIGNED by the photographer on the blank margin of the print. The titles include: Gyro Ride at Night, 1946; Woman Out of Car, 1946; Two Sailors on Subway, 1947; Gypsy Girl with Merry-Go-Round, 1949; Teenagers on Beach with Radio, 1949; Man and Wife Drinking Beer, 1950; Girl on Cyclone, 1952; Soldiers Embarking, 1953; Boys Running into Surf, 1954, and Boy on Father's Shoulders, 1987.
