Tokyo: Shueisha, 2006. 12mo size paperback with dust jacket; 143 pages. There is also a two-inch removable overwrap over the dust jacket. First published in 1943 the novella, Le Petit Prince or The Little Prince, tell the story of a young prince who visits different planets in outer space. Apropos for a book written during World War II, among it's themes are love, loss, friendship and loneliness. Considered a modern classic, The Little Prince has been translated into more than 250 languages, making it one of the most translated books and it is one of the top selling books in the world. Author Antoine de Saint-Exupery (1900 - 1944) a sport and military aviator, died when his aircraft was shot down on an Allied reconnaissance mission during World War II. Some critics have opined, that de Saint-Exupery, like the Little Prince, fell from the sky. The Little Prince was not published in France until the country was liberated and after the author had died, de Saint-Exupery's works having been banned by the Nazi collaborationist Vichy government.
