Illustrated endpapers. Description: Features 56 tipped in color plates and 70 line drawings. This was first printed in New Zealand in 1966 and reprinted in 1967; this is the first American edition. The artist-author writes ''The Pacific is the most colourful and fascinating part of this earth; painting it was like dipping one's hands into a casket of jewels.'' McIntyre's travels throughout the Pacific included Fiji, Tahiti, Mexico, Hawaii, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Australia, New Guinea, his New Zealand home, and Antarctica. As he travelled he painted; and his palette and technique responded with vitality and delight to the people and the places he encountered. BINDING/CONDITION: beige buckram with gilt text; the boards are bowed, the edges of the rear endpapers are stained, shows moderate handling soil and wear, the hinges are sound, and the text is all very good -- the overall condition is Good-; no dust jacket.
