Illustrated with a wood engraving on the half-title page. Introduction by D. Riazanov. Draper E579. Engels' examination of the peasant uprisings in Germany, and how they were tied to the Reformation. He gives a history of Martin Luther's allegiance and subsequent abandonment of the peasant cause after the ruling class in Germany took up Protestantism. A sharp copy. A touch of foxing to the textblock; jacket shows minor edge wear and toning to its spine panel.
