About This Item
London: Barrie & Jenkins , 1972 . First edition. Cloth. Near Fine/Very Good. 8" by 5". None. A very smart first edition of this amusing tale starring Monty Bodkin on his return from Hollywood, written by P. G. Wodehouse. First edition, in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Written by English author Sir Pelham Grenville Wodehouse, one of the most widely read humorists of the 20th century. This novel tells the story of Monty Bodkin, who returns from Hollywood with his romantic situation still as complicated as ever. His fiancée Gertrude Butterwick refuses to marry without the consent of her father J. B. Butterwick. He dislikes Monty and will not agree to the match unless Monty can remain gainfully employed for a full year. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with minor shelf wear only. Remnants of a small label marking the front endpaper and paste down. Dust wrapper is very good, with light edge wear, one small tear to the head of the rear board and one chip to the tail of the spine. The odd mark to the wrap, with one or two spots to the reverse. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Near Fine
