About This Item
Routledge & Kegan Paul, London., 1955. First edition. Octavo. pp x, 76. The author's first collection. From the library of the author's fellow academic, the Chaucer specialist Nevill Coghill: tipped in at the front is an undated Typed Letter Signed by Robin Skelton. The letter runs to about 180 words partly concerning an unidentified article: ''...it is so hard to be absolutely honest about such things without becoming sentimental, precious, sententious, or fatuous...''. One wonders which ''things'' can be so challenging to a person's honesty. Custom cloth binding by Maltby of Oxford, presumably made for Professor Coghill.Letter: folded twice; very good. Book: near fine; no dustwrapper.
